Payroll & Accounting Clerk Payroll & Accounts Payable Clerk performs complex accounting support duties in one or more of the following: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, payroll or credit and collections. Performs specialized calculations, posting and accounting functions. Prepares, extends and issues bills and invoices from appropriate sales and shipping documents. Maintains expense report controls and accounts. Prepares periodic reports summarizing business and financial activities. Codes data for input to financial data processing system; reconciles difficult report discrepancies and problems. Uses office-automated systems to input data, generate reports, conduct specialized research projects and respond to inquiries. May code accounts payable invoices for proper account distribution, checks prices, quantities and extensions. May receive remittances, post to proper accounts and prepare transmittal documents; may prepare and issue credit and debit memos. May prepare payroll input data and maintain site payroll control. May provide work leadership to others through assignment of work, monitoring of progress, review of results, orientation and technical instruction. May reconcile difficult accounts. May be responsible for a complete and systematic set of transactions in a specific phase of accounting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and four-to-six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous payroll processing experience. Knowledge of payroll policies, practices, and systems. Accounts Payable experience. Knowledge of accounting policies, practices, and systems.
