Associate Equine Hospital Surgeon

Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, Inc.

Job Duties: Provide veterinary care to horses and various other large animals. Conduct a variety of technical medical and surgical duties relevant to inpatient and outpatient cases in the equine/large animal hospital, while working in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. All employees are required to participate in the emergency on-call rotation that services the large animal department of the hospital. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Oversee and manage hospitalized patients; Perform outpatient exams for lameness and other medical issues; Oversee and manage Interns and nursing staff treating cases; Perform large animal surgical procedures both elective and emergency; Take radiographs; Perform endoscopic procedures; Oversee anesthesia, injectable and inhalant, performed on horses and other large animal species for surgical and MRI cases; Oversee Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Oversee sterile assistance in surgical procedures; and Perform or oversee Shockwave procedures.


Education Requirement: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or foreign equivalent) or related.


Experience Requirements: Four (4) years of experience as an Associate Equine Veterinary Surgeon with an emphasis on soft tissue surgery or related, which includes experience in an equine/mixed animal practice and horse and large animal handling. Board certified in large animal surgery and current Washington State Veterinary License required.
