GENERAL SUMMARY The Biomedical Shipping Assistant is responsible for preparing, packaging and document preparation for international and domestic shipments. This includes the proper storage and organization of plasma products and samples. Additional duties include: various administrative jobs, phlebotomy and data entry.

Pack and verify orders: samples, products.
Prepare airway bills, packing slips, international documents and shipping labels.
Interact with export carriers and sales as needed to resolve shipping issues.
Work with carriers to ensure the freight is picked up timely while being compliant to specific DOT requirements.
Check incoming orders against purchase orders to ensure the proper and accurate receipt of raw materials and finished goods.
Maintain documentation related to shipping activities.
Monitor the status of the shipments.
Remake pilots and splitting units.
Defibrination of plasma units at customer request.
Freezer maintenance.
Inventory control.
Vendor Approval Rating.
Process Donors as needed.
Screen Potential donors.
Phlebotomy as needed.
Investigation / problem solving.
Data Entry.

The Biomedical Shipping Assistant will work closely with the Product / Shipping Supervisor to ensure quality and accuracy of orders including proper shipping documentation. He/She should have good knowledge of safe handling and packaging of blood products. Computer skills are necessary as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills for relating to staff, clients, and customers. He/She needs to be self-motivated, organized and detailed oriented.

Computer, centrifuge, refractometer, photocopy machine, calculator

Candidate must have high school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant License and 2 years’ medical experience.
Must have knowledge of OSHA and Universal Precaution training.
He/She should have sufficient knowledge of a range of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
