Pediatric Nurse responsibilities areSupervising the developmental (heights, weights, vision, hearing, iron and lead) screening and Health Alert systemsTaking the leadin ensuring follow-up on screening results andin developing health care plans when staff or parent identifies a medical condition that requires the use of special precautions or strategies in order to keep the child safe and healthyA' Acting as the in-house health resourceAnalyzing program health data, submitting regular reports that may include recommendations to strengthen health services to the PFCE DirectorAnticipating future health trends and articulate credible visions that enable innovative and appropriate program planningReviewing and updating, as needed, Health ProtocolsObserving each classroom, class and group socialization at least once during the school year for health and safety; writing report and, if needed, including recommendationsConducting file reviews, monitoring for data integrity between paper and electronic filesWorking collaboratively with program's Parent, Family, & Community Engagement (PFCE) and Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) staffParticipating in program's self-assessmentSharing health services monitoring responsibilities to ensure quality, consistency, continuity and fidelity to OHS performance standards, health protocols, policies and proceduresServing as a liaison with community health care programs, and state and federal health care agenciesPreparing health reports, as requested by PFCE Director A' Providing training, if asked, for staff and/or parentsA' The Pediatric Nurse does not provide clinical care (observation and treatment of patients, medical practice, nursing care or diagnosis) or direct health services such as examinations, immunizations, first aid, administering of medications or other nursing care duties to enrolled infants, toddlers and preschoolers. A' A' KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of the information and techniques used for well-child care, prenatal, postpartum care, and communicable diseases.Knowledge of and experience with the A' Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment Medicaid services for childrenKnowledge of early child development, newborn, infant, toddler and child health issues.Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting to stakeholders including parents, staff, program management and program leadership.Demonstrated ability to relate to and work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.Good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, receive and provide feedback, and manage dynamic interchanges in meetings.Willingness to comply with established agency performance standards which may include: productivity/personal responsibility, client/customer service orientation, embracing a team player orientation,A' entrepreneurialism, and maintaining a professional demeanor.Willingness to comply with Head Start Standards of Conduct by promoting the unique identity of each child and family; conforming with program confidentiality policies; following child supervision and guidance policies; and refraining from soliciting or accepting personal gratuities, favors, or anything of significant monetary value from contractors or potential contractors. A' Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a Registered Nurse and licensed in the state of WashingtonBachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university.Educational/experience of minimally three years working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers in a community health and/or childcare-school setting.Experience of minimally three years working with low-income, refugee, and/or immigrant young (0-6 years old) children and families.Strong computer skills working in database, WORD, EXCEL, and email.Strong written and verbal communication skillsWork history documenting successful collaborative and teamwork skills.A' DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience within the last 5 years working with Office of Head Start Performance StandardsMaster's Degree in relevant course of study5 or more years working in a same/similar position in Head Start, Early Head Start, or same/similar granted funded program.A' CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Hiring for this position is on the condition that the following requirements will be met: A' Prior to job offer:Signed statement declaring any involvement in child abuse or neglect charges, violent crimes or job-related felony convictions.A' Before Starting Work:Paperwork indicating negative TB Test or clear chest x-rayProof of Tdap (Pertussis) vaccinationShow proof of a cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) from the Washington State Department of Early LearningA' (NOTE: A' if you do not have a current PBC, you must first create an account in the DEL's MERIT system byA' clicking here.
